Patches From The Quilt - EP

01. Cookie Jar [Featuring The Dream] So I was a little hesitant about buying this EP from iTunes, but Gym Class Heroes has impressed me with this one. The song, which talks about "cookies" makes numerous references to "cheating," which makes me think its about sex or a woman, but I did a little research and found that it means "ass." The beat is very good and The Dream singing on the chorus does the song justice. Although, Travis' repetitive line "can't keep my hands, my hands, my hands out the cookie jar." gets a little old, but other than that, the song is pretty average. Good, but not great. 7/10

02. Peace Sign / Index Down (feat. Busta Rhymes) Wow is all I can say. This song owns on many different levels. The beat, the chorus, and Travis' rapping are all on point. Even though I wasn't looking forward to Busta Rhymes at the end, he impressed me also. Everything just goes with each other, making a potential second single. 8/10

03. Blinded by the Sun Well this one impressed me even more so than Peace Sign / Index Down did, and that says a lot. The reggae-esque vibe and music, along with Travis' patois accent work well. Not really sure what the meaning of the song is yet, maybe after a few more listens, I'll get it. 8.5/10

So in my review of Donkey by CSS, I gave "How I Became Paranoid" this rating:

07. How I Became Paranoid: Ehh, I don't really know what to say about this one. Now bad, but not great. Especially after following behind Beautiful Song. There's good use of synthesizers and guitar though. It might take a couple listens before you warm up to it. 5/10

However, I changed my mind. I give it a 7 out of 10 now. It really grew on me after a few listens.

You heard right folks. This game is a sequel to the 2006 game, Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

The game was officially announced in a press release by Activision on February 8, 2008. The game was scheduled to be released sometime in 2009. At E3 2008, it was given the official name of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: Fusion.

Plot: The game's plot will begin with the events depicted in the Secret War story arc of the Marvel Universe and will then progress into the period of the Civil War. Game Informer noted that during one mission Iron Man and Captain America argue with one another hinting at the schism depicted in the Civil War. It is speculated at some point in the game players will be forced to choose sides in the conflict as heroes have been seen battling other heroes in certain levels. Doctor Doom or Lucia von Bardas have been speculated to be involved with the main plot after a trailer released at E3 which showed a military operation originating in Latveria.

Soul Eater

Here's a new anime I just picked up. The manga was originally started on June 24, 2003. Then, on April 7, 2008, it was adapted into its own anime series, with 16 episodes to date. Here is the first opening for you guys to enjoy.

Soul Eater primarily revolves around students classified as meisters at the Shinigami Weapon Meister Vocational School, or Shibusen for short, located in the fictional Death City, in Nevada, United States. The school is run by Shinigami, the God of Death himself, as a training facility for weapons and the human wielders of those weapons, the meisters.

My Pokemon Ranch

I'm about a month and a half late, but I figure I'll do a short little review on this game since it's the most recent game I've gotten.

This game, well, if you want to call it that, revolves around you. You are building your very own ranch! A ranch for your Diamond/Pearl pokemon that is. When the game starts out, you're greeted by Hayley, the girl who is in the picutre above. She's going to be the one helping you out with stuff.

The good thing about Hayley is that she asks for Pokemon. Whenever the player brings in one of the "Wanted Pokémon", Hayley will offer to trade one of her Pokémon for it, and the Pokémon received will be one of twenty and will know a TM, egg move, or have something else that sets them apart from other Pokemon.

Some of the game's features include:

My Pokémon Ranch is able to connect, store and withdraw Pokémon from 8 different Pokémon Diamond and Pearl (and possibly Pokémon Platinum) game cards using the Nintendo DS's connectivity. It is able to store up to 1,000 Pokémon at a time.
Pokémon and Miis can interact in full 3D on the Wii. A Pokémon's behavior in the ranch can be determined by the Pokémon's nature, moves, etc.
The player is able to take pictures at any time when on the ranch and save them to the message board or a SD card. Taking pictures of objects can be made easier by applying a Focus Lock or spinning the screen around using the Nunchuk.
Using WiiConnect24, you can send pictures you have taken on the ranch to other friends.
On occasions, your player and Hayley can trade Pokémon on the ranch. Her traded Pokémon can be withdrawn onto the player's Pokémon Diamond and Pearl game card.

Overall, this game is pretty dull and boring, but being able to get the Phione and Mew are pretty cool. Also, looking at all the cute 3D models of the Pokemon isn't half bad either. I say, if you love Pokemon Diamond or Pearl and you have a Wii, you should get this game.

Track-by-Track Review: Donkey

01. Jager Yoga: With a name like that, this song was bound to be hott. And boy was I right. It's a really catchy song that goes well as the album opener. And with the line "F**k with us we are CSS," you simply can't go wrong. 9/10

02. Rat Is Dead (Rage): Wow, is all I can say. This song has been on repeat for the past week or two on my iPod. It's really punk/indie-rock, which is different from CSS's normal stuff. The song seems to be about either a girl who kills her abusive boyfriend or someone else does. 10/10

03. Let's Reggae All Night: "You're so fast. I'm so slow." The song's good. Has some nice synthesizers and a cool funky beat, but it just doesn't live up to Rat Is Dead. It also seems a bit, long. It's a good listen though. 6/10

04. Give Up: Great song. Long intro, which is a good thing imo [: Adriano sings background vocals on this one, which I love. When they sing together, I just melt. The chorus is pretty solid and catchy too. 8/10

05. Left Behind: Another great use of Synthesizers, and an amazing choice of the second single. One of the best so far. It seems to be about getting over a bad relationship and feeling good about it. "A million points wont be enough to make me stare back at your face." Check out the video here. 9.5/10

06. Beautiful Song: And yes, that it is. Adriano sings background on this one too, so I'm instantly in love. It's a real head bobber/foot tapper. The UFO noises remind me somewhat of "Lets Make Love and Listen Death From Above" from their first album. Potential single! 8/10

07. How I Became Paranoid: Ehh, I don't really know what to say about this one. Now bad, but not great. Especially after following behind Beautiful Song. There's good use of synthesizers and guitar though. It might take a couple listens before you warm up to it. 5/10

08. Move: The Dance record of this album, fersure! It's really catchy and addictive. It's really fun and energetic. The chorus is pretty catchy too. "Yup yup yup yup. You've got to keep on movin'" 7/10

09. I Fly: This one, I'm not really feeling at this point. It's really weird and I don't understand what it's about at all. She talks about being a fly and flying into some guys mouth? Maybe it'll just have to grow on me. 5/10

10. Believe Achieve: This one is very different from the rest of the album. I like it, but I don't love it. It's really 80's and slow. Not really my style. This is probably a skipper. 4/10

11. Air Painter: Okay, so this one is amazing. I love this song and it surely makes up for the last 2 songs that weren't that great. Everything about this song is simply amazing. The music, lyrics, chorus, everything. It also gets points for the awesome title too. 9/10

12. Hit and Run: The intro sorta reminds me of "Patins" from their first album. Adriano and Lovefoxxx sing together on this one too, which as you know, I can't get enough of. This one reminds me more of Rat Is Dead, which is a good thing. I love this song. It'll have to grow on me more though. 8.5/10

Character of the Week 2: Jiraiya!

Jiraiya

AKA: Pervy-Sage

Jiraiya-sama is known as the Ero-Sennin by Naruto. Jiraiya is the creator of Love Love Paradise (also known as Come Come paradise), the book that Kakashi is always reading.

The technique Jiraiya uses the most is his Summoning no Jutsu. This technique can summon a Toad of any size. One of the toads that he summons is called Gamabunta the Frog Boss. Two other smaller frogs he can summon are Gamabunta's children, Gamakichi and Gamakichi's younger brother Gamatatsu.

Jiraiya is known to everyone as one of the legendary ninjas of the leaf country. Jiraiya-sama is also the one who taught the Fourth Hokage most of his techniques. One of the techniques that he learns from the Fourth Hokage is the Rasengan, which he teaches to Naruto.

The symbol on his forehead protector means oil (as can be seen at Kanji Land).

Jiraiya was killed by Pein when he traveled to the Village of the Rain to get some information. Pein revealed his six bodies to Jiraiya, and they brought Jiraiya to death's door. But before Jiraiya died, he realizes something about Pein, and gives this information to the elder toad he summoned, so that it could be passed on to Naruto.

     It seemed as though I had been running for days. He wasn’t giving up his chase. He had worked too hard to find me and he wasn’t going to abandon his goal now. No matter how much I ran. I don’t know what made me run in the first place, but I knew that if I were to let him catch me, things would end up bad. For the both of us.
     I know that all he wanted from me was my jewel, but I needed it to survive on land and my time was slowly running out. I had to find some water, and fast. I stopped and took a breath. I wasn’t used to breathing on land yet. He was gaining on me. Maybe I could just stop and fight. I don’t know what to do. I’m running out of time.
     I look around me and see nothing, no one. I gather all the strength I have left and begin to run again. I run and run until I finally get the scent of the ocean in my nose. I’m close to home!
     “I’m coming to get you, boy! You can’t run forever!” Yells the hard voice of the hunter ninja whose been chasing me. He’s gaining fast.
     The ocean is finally coming into view. My gills are starting to reappear. I don’t have any time left. I can’t breathe anymore. My legs slow down and the man’s footsteps are getting closer. I can’t feel my body anymore. All this running was putting massive amounts of strain on my muscles. I collapse.
     “Haha. I’ve got you!” Were the last words I heard.
